The effect of different types of corrective feedback on ESL Student writing:
Journal of Second Language Writing

This study investigated whether different types of feedback resulted in improved accuracy in new pieces of writing.
Types of feedback:
1. direct, explicit written feedback only
2. direct, explicit written feedback AND direct, explicit oral feedback/conferencing
3. direct oral feedback/conferencing
RESULTS:
The combination of direct, explicit written feedback AND direct, explicit oral feedback had a greater effect that direct written feedback alone or direct oral feedback alone.
